Risk Communication Task Force Meeting No. 2/2014

A task force meeting for risk communication promotion was held on 12 November 2014, at 13.30 - 16.30 hrs., at Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, with a total of 19 members participating. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Arthit Laieddee, Director of Rayong Provincial Office of National Resources and Environment. Mr. Shinya Hashimoto, JICA Expert, also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, Dr. Chayawee Wangcharoenrung, PCD, presented the project progress such as awareness raising seminars, PRTR compiled data for pilot project in Rayong province and disclosure format, progress on risk communication handbook development, and exposure assessment of benzene using air dispersion modeling. The meeting participants acknowledged all reports.

Another topic considered by the meeting was selection criteria for risk communication facilitators; by selecting people from the list of participants from first facilitator training in January 2012, whose qualification, skill and knowledge meet the following requirements:

  • Age over 35 and 5+ years working experience with many colleagues/client/stakeholders,
  • Ability to gain trust, credibility from meeting participants,
  • Good communication capability, Knowledge and skill in basic risk communication,
  • Knowledge and understanding of chemical risk and PRTR.

As a result, 5 candidates were selected as the facilitators. In addition, 3 senior facilitators, namely Dr. Supat Wangwongwatana, Mrs. Kasemsri Homchuen and Dr. Thongchai Punsawat, were appointed by the meeting. A facilitator training program will be organized at Rayong Occupational Health and Environmental Development Center (ROHED Center) in January 2015.
