The 6th PRTR seminar, the final one under the JICA-PRTR Project, was organized on January 27th, 2016 at Century Park Hotel in Bangkok, with more than 120 participants from government agencies, the private sector, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the JICA expert team. Chief Representative of JICA Thailand Office, Mr. Shuichi IKEDA, Governor of IEAT, Dr. Verapong Chaiperm, Deputy Director General of DIW, Mr. Somkid Wongchaisuwan, and Director of Waste and Hazardous Substances Management Bureau of PCD, Dr. Anuphan Ittharatana, jointly delivered the opening speech. The seminar objective was to inform the progress of the JICA PRTR in Rayong Province and PRTR system design. During the seminar, Dr. Wijarn Simachaya, Director General of PCD, delivered a speech demonstrating a strong commitment to continuing and expanding the PRTR pilot in Chonburi and Samut Prakarn provinces.

The final session of the seminar was an active discussion facilitated by Mr. Aram Bhandhuwanna (PCD), and paneled by Mr. Sumetha Wichienpet (PCD), Dr. Sirakarn Leungsakul (DIW), Dr. Jariya Sukhapan (IEAT), and Mr. Munehiro Fukuda (JICA Expert). Also, Ms. Petcharat Eksangkul from FTI was an honorable speaker in this session. The feedback received in this session will be taken into consideration in improving the PRTR system. Finally, Mr. Suwan Nanthasarut, Deputy Director General of PCD delivered a speech to close the seminar.
