Thai and Japanese researchers finalized the methodology of evidence-based research

On the 28th February, Ms. Yumiko Miyashita, the JICA short term expert from the University of Tsukuba in Japan visited Thailand and had a discussion with Prof. Sutthichai Jitapunkul to finalize research methodology. Due to current political situation in Thailand, the meeting on the 26th February 2014 with the Care managers on research method was postponed, however, they had fruitful discussion to prepare for the LTOP research.

Prof. Sutthichai from Chulalongkorn University and Prof. Tamiya from University of Tsukuba have been collaborating for LTOP evidence-based research and shared input on How To Measure Effectiveness of new care service model in Thailand. What does effectiveness mean? There were many discussions and revision together with Ministry of Public Health and JICA experts. Finally main measures were confirmed as ADL, care burden, economic situation, QOL and satisfaction to the service. As tools, Community-Long-term Care Personal Folder, Questionnaires, Interviews are conducted to take quantitative and qualitative data from 5 target groups (elderly, family care givers, care managers, care workers and local government officers).
