Thai and Japanese stakeholders have gathered at JICA Thailand office on the 7th March, 2014 to have a meeting. The purpose was to reflect what we have done so far and also to clarify the issues to be tackled to further move on.
From Thai side, 19 participants from Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Ministry of Finance, Health Systems Research Institute, Health Insurance System Research Office, Fiscal Policy Research Institute and Institute of Geriatric Medicine etc. have attended. From Japan side, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting, Wakayama prefecture, JICA Headquarter and JICA Thailand office etc. have joined.
Although there was some delay of planned activities caused by the recent political situation in Thailand, it was confirmed that the Project goes well in general. For the policy recommendation on elderly care to Thai government, which is the goal of the Project, it was confirmed that the Human Resource and Finance issues on long term care service with the element of Sustainability are the key points to be further discussed. These topics will be included in the 2nd policy discussion seminar.
