The Workshop for Care managers in 6 sites was conducted

On the 10th April 2014, one day workshop for Thai Care managers was conducted at the hotel in Nonthaburi. The main purpose was to let them understand the major expected roles of LTOP Care managers prior to the start of model services in each site. In the opening remarks, Dr. Chanvit from MOPH has mentioned that the elderly care area is becoming a worldwide issue and an international mainstream. Therefore, the Care manager's job to support elderly and their family is crucial.

Mr. Enomoto, LTOP chief advisor has shared the whole picture of Project activities and related parties. Then, 3 key expected roles of LTOP Care managers, (1) Collect information for LTOP survey (2) Care management (3) Develop Care plan and revise it; were presented.

Then, Prof. Sutthichai from Chulalongkorn University has explained the detailed role of Care managers, purpose and principle on LTOP survey. He has instructed on "Community-Long-term Care Personal Folder" he developed to collect data of elderly efficiently. He mentioned that with the usage of Folder, Care managers can collect information easily along with their routine work. After that, Care managers has separated into groups and the applicability of Folder in their site was discussed. There were some revision recommended by Care managers, and their opinions will be reflected accordingly.

Throughout the workshop, Prof. Sutthichai has stressed that "I believe, the key to the success of LTOP model services, is to empower elderly and their family members by you, Care managers. Through your networking with government officials or volunteers, you can let elderly and their family to be tougher." He encouraged the Care managers that they should make efforts to work on LTOP survey to make use of the Folder which is so simple that there is no obstacle to routine work. The workshop ended successfully.
