Workshop on Model Services was conducted.

LTOP project conducted "Workshop on Model Services"at Mida Hotel in Nonthaburi from 1st to 3rd February.

The main target of this workshop is Care Manager who learned the basic knowledge and skill of Care Management in Japan Training and is a main person in charge of Model Services. In addition, persons from Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Care Workers and Care Volunteers who provide model services for the elderly, Care Worker Trainees and other persons concerned participated in the workshop.

More than one and half year has passed since the LTOP Model Services began to be provided at project sites. However, there are some problems and issues found in the implementation of the services. The purpose of this workshop is that LTOP participants monitor the following contents and revise these contents if necessary.

  1. LTOP Care Plan format
  2. Roles of Care Manager, Care Worker and Care Volunteer
  3. Contents of Model Services
  4. Contents of Operation Manual

This workshop was composed of mainly group discussions and presentations.

At the group discussion, we had good opportunities to discuss about problems and issues among members who always work at distant sites. And, they had chance to monitor their own cares and model services provided at project sites. In addition, we got the outputs leading to the improvement of LTOP Model Services.

And, we concluded the outputs of the workshop as below.

  1. LTOP Care Plan format was revised: sections to be written the condition of ADL, the status of the achievement and the information of the elderly were added.
  2. Roles of related persons at the present time were clarified as following table.
    Name Training Duty
Care Manager Care Manager Training (LTOP or Ministry of Public Health) Care Management (E.g. Assessment. Making a Care Plan)
Care Worker Training for the elderly Care (more than 70 hours) Provision of the elderly care (Physical care is included.)
    Care Volunteer
    • Training for the elderly care (less than 70 hours)
    • Persons who don’t receive the training.
Provision of life support to the elderly (E.g. Vital check, Person with whom to speak)
  3. Minimum necessary services at the present time were clarified. 9 new care contents such as “Check of nutritional conditions of the elderly” and “Check of oral conditions”were added to present care services. In those contents, a therapy which uses hot or cold compressions was included. This service was added from the viewpoint of Thai culture.
  4. Care contents that need to be written in the operation manual at the present time were defined.

These revisions and the definitions at the present time are tentative. We will conduct the workshops for monitoring and revising these items accordingly.

Retrospectively, LTOP Model Services at project sites has been provided by making use of the resources of each site, such as human resources and other resources from May of 2014, the beginning of the services. Project sites have done trial and error with the limited resources in order to provide better services to the elderly. Through this workshop, LTOP project has clarified and summarized their activities. We will utilize these outputs in the improvement of model services and the policy recommendation. And we will try to establish the system for supporting care provisions at project sites.
