Report of LTOP activities in FY 2015

We would like to report the LTOP activities in FY 2015, focusing on those in the latter half of the year.

1. The 4th JCC

The 4th JCC was held on 28th December 2015, after an interval of 1 year and 8 months from the 3rd JCC. There were activity reports from the project pilot sites and an explanation of the activity plan for the next year, as well as a report of the mid-term review last June; also, it was confirmed that we will go further along with the recommendation in the report.

2. Japan Training

From January to February of 2016, Care Management Training and Care Worker Training were held in JICA Tokyo. Participants of Care Management Training were 2 persons from each project pilot site, 12 persons in total, and those of Care Worker Training consisted of 12 persons from pilot sites, 2 persons from MOPH and 1 person from MSDHS, 15 persons in total.

They have learned advanced long-term care skill in Japan, such as care management, care technique and knowledge of dementia, and are expected to play an active role in future LTOP activities.

3. Workshop on Model Services

From 1st to 3rd February 2016, we held a workshop on model services. Participants included persons concerned of MOPH and MSDHS, care managers and care workers from project pilot sites. They discussed the contents of model services, roles of care manager and other related persons and so on.

4. Workshop on Cost Analysis

From 24th to 26th February 2016, we held a workshop on cost analysis. There were a series of lectures, given by Professor Noguchi from Waseda University, about population ageing in Asia countries, necessity of cost analysis and concept of cost.

And as preparation for conducting cost analysis, there was an explanation about the process of collecting data necessary for cost analysis. After the workshop in MOPH, we also visited Kohn Kaen, Nonthaburi and Surat Thani sites and held small workshops there.

5. Policy Discussion Group Seminar

On 7th and 8th March 2016, we held a policy discussion group seminar. Participants from Japan were Mr. Ozuru, Director of International Affairs Division, MHLW, and Mr. Nakamura, Senior Advisor, JICA Headquarters. We visited Bangkok site on the 7th and held the seminar on long-term care on the8th.

In the seminar, there were presentations of the current situation of implementation of model services and long-term care policy in Thailand and Japan, and free discussion followed.

6. The 5th JCC

The 5th JCC was held on 24th March 2016. There were activity reports from the project pilot sites and presentations of the current situation of implementation of model services, cost analysis and long-term care policy in Thailand and Japan, and further directions of those activities were discussed.
