Health Care Finance Study Visit

The Project conducted a study visit to Japan for 21 staff of National Health Security Office, Ministry of Public Health and researchers in Thailand as part of Knowledge Co-creation Program from June 17-22, 2018.

This study visit aimed to understand the Japanese fee schedule systems and its implementation including the development and political economy, assessment and negotiation processes as well as the implementation of auditing.

Thanks to kind cooperation from organizations including the Ministry of Health Labour and Welfare, Setagaya Ward Municipal Government, Teikyo University Hospital, Nitta clinic and Health Insurance Claims Review & Reimbursement Services Kanagawa branch, experience and lessons learned on Japan's health policies and experiences in the design, implementation, and monitoring of the health insurance system that ensures sustainability have been widely shared and enthusiastically discussed.

On the last day of the program, the participants presented what they have learnt from the visit and application to the Thai health care finance system. Good practices and lessons learned will be preliminary applied to their own health care system, and the GLO+UHC Project will continue to support the activities.
