Daycare center workshop

The workshop was held for two days (November 11-12, 2019) in Bangkok, Thailand with the aims of integrating standards as well as improving the quality of childcare and education at the national level. Two Japanese short-term experts participated in the workshop and made presentations about the curriculum and current situation of childcare and education in Japan, including real examples at Center for Early Childhood Education and Care, Ochanomizu University. Recently, there is a growing trend of expanding work opportunities for women as well as increasing the importance of Daycare Center for children in Thailand. However, there is no official accreditation system for childcare workers in Thailand, and there is a strong need of integrating standards of Daycare Center and educational programs for children which result in emerging issues for operations of childcare and education. Through this workshop, a wide variety of examples of childcare and education in Japan were shared with the Thai audience which resulted in great opportunities for further discussing initiatives to make the childcare and education better in Thailand. GLO+UHC will continue to strive for strengthening UHC in Thailand on the basis of the requests of the Thailand government.
