The 2nd Joint Coordination Committee Meeting

On March 29th, 2019 the S-TOP Project held the second Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting at the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), which consisted of key drivers of the Project in attendance. The JCC is held twice a year in order to monitor the progress, discuss problems, and find solutions for the Project among three ministries. These are MOPH, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and the National Health Security Office (NHSO), whom are the key counterparts of the S-TOP Project. This committee is the highest decision-making body in the Project.

The main agendas of the meeting were the reporting of the progress of the Project, the approval of the activity plan of each main pilot sites, and the addition of the province of Phuket as a main pilot site.

From the presentation on the progress by each main pilot site, we recognized the development of Intermediate Care (IMC) service development has been moving forward steadily. We also noticed that there are different features that fit in the context of each local area and the difference in the level of understanding on IMC among related personnel.

In the details of the progress of activities from the pilot sites, Khon Kaen and Surat Thani sites presented that they will strengthen the collaboration of daycare centers that are operated by the Tambon[1] municipalities. Nonthaburi site presented that they are working to have day care centers in all Tambon municipalities in the province. In addition, Nakhon Ratchasima site has showed that they are establishing an inter-site collaboration with Khon Kaen site, which has never been done before.

Although the meeting lasted for a long time, it was clear that there is momentum in developing Seamless Care services and recognizing the efforts and motivations of all the stakeholders of the S-TOP Project.
