First S-TOP Workshop for Policy Recommendation with the Drafting Team and the Research Team

S-TOP organized the first workshop for policy recommendation with the Drafting Team and the Research Team on December 20-21, 2021. The workshop was started with the opening remarks from Dr. Kornkrit Limsommut, Director of Health Administration Division, Office of Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Prasitchai Mangjit, Director of Office of Health Region 4, and Mr. Motooki Sakai, Chief Advisor of JICA S-TOP. On the first day of the Workshop, there were presentations on development of policy recommendation, research ideas, and summary of S-TOP project site activities.

After the presentations, participants were divided into two groups and discussed key issues and good practices based on the WHO 6 Building Blocks (1. Service Delivery, 2. Workforce, 3. Leadership and Governance, 4. Information Systems, 5. Essential Drugs, Equipment and Technology, and 6. Financing) plus Participation.

On the second day of the Workshop, members of the Drafting Team and the Research Team summarized the results of discussion on the first and second day.

The results of discussions on Service Delivery, Workforce, and Participation were presented by Dr. Ratiorn Pornkuna of Khon Kaen Hospital, Ms. Tamruja Udom of Somdej Phra Sangharaj Nyanasamvara Geriatric Hospital in Chonburi, and Dr. Pattarat Pansuvannajit of Saraphi Bovorn Pattana Hospital in Chiang Mai respectively.

On the third day of the Workshop, Dr. Tanyaluck Kwansanit of Surat Thani Hospital, Dr. Chatchai Tangvinit of Patong Hospital in Phuket, and Dr. Pattarat Pansuvannajit gave presentations on Leadership and Governance, Information Systems and Essential Products, and Financing. Following each presentation, there was a discussion with online participants. The three-day workshop was finished with the closing remarks from Mr. Motooki Sakai. Based on the key issues and good practices identified, further discussions for policy recommendation will be conducted.
