1st Retreat Meeting and 2nd Joint Project Management Team (JPMT) Meeting

GLO+UHC Phase 2 is run not only by the project's JPMT (experts from Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), National Health Security Office (NHSO) and JICA), but together with other experts from various organizations in Thailand. Other experts participate as working team members of the project.

On 5 April 2021, the members of JPMT and all the working teams gathered for the 1st Retreat Meeting held at Nonthaburi, a province next to Bangkok. The main objectives of the Retreat Meeting were to discuss possible main activities in each working topics (health financing, health workforce and health service delivery) and decide the focal points of the working teams that will be working on those activities.

To begin with, Ms. Wilailuk Wisasa, Project Manager, Acting Bureau Director of International Affairs on UHC, NHSO, gave an opening remark and expressed her gratitude for the collaboration on the project. Next, Dr. Takuma Kato, Chief Advisor of GLO+UHC Phase 2, delivered a remark and shared the current situation of the project.

As GLO+UHC Phase 2 will primarily focus on developing UHC implementation and global health in other countries. The participants discussed the possible activity/action to be done during the second phase, based on the questionnaires which were sent to the eight priority countries earlier. In addition, the working teams of each topic area, namely health workforce, health financing and health service delivery, discussed the scope of the future activities for realizing the outputs of the project.

On the same day, after the Retreat Meeting, the members of the JPMT continued the discussion in the 2nd JPMT Meeting. In this meeting, the participants mainly discussed about GLO+UHC resource centers which are intended to disseminate the knowledge and experience of UHC and global health through the information and materials shared on the website.

Dr. Walaiporn Patcharanarumol, Project Manager, Director of Global Health Division, MOPH, closed the long day by thanking all the participants.
