On 20 November 2022, Prof. Yuji Iwahori, the leader of research group 3 from Chubu University, delivered a lecture at a JICA training programme for Ukraine to help Ukrainian researchers under fire. The remote training programme on industrial technology was designed by JICA and Aichi University of Education to sustain Ukrainian academics despite difficult situations such as blackouts caused by air attack. Prof. Iwahori introduced Ukrainian participants to an advanced technology endoscope, applying image detection and analysis through computer network learning models. The participants found the lecture on innovative technology useful for the rebuilding of Ukrainian academia. On 24 November 2022, a local Japanese newspaper, Chunichi Shinbun, gave prominent coverage to the training programme.
