The extension of right knowledge and techniques on veterinary practice and mastitis control about dairy cattle for NT and LT was one of the urgent issues in the improvement of dairy technology in small and medium scale dairy farms in North Vietnam. With the purpose of improving knowledge and techniques of the veterinary clinical diagnostic technology for NT and LT, Dr. Minami Shigeru- expert on was assigned to this project from June 3 to August 18, 2007.

During his assignment in the project, he carried out on- site survey in the Project target areas with the assistance of the project counterparts (NTs). Through these surveys, he understood the real situation of dairy farming industry in the target areas as well as dairy farming in Ba vi areas generally.

Based on the real situation, he prepared subjects for lecturing and recommendations for LT and NT through training courses. Two LT training courses were held in Ba vi Center.

Along with the LT training courses, he carried out lecture for NT at the office of the project and in field to find out the method of diagnosing diseases by using stethoscope, percussion over visible and typical symptoms of them. He also requested NTs to join as assistant for 2nd LT training course. Thanks to practical activities at farms that are combined with theory and practices, both NT and LT’s were so satisfied with what they could obtain through the activities.

Moreover, Dr. Minami Shigeru published a manual on “ Veterinary clinical diagnostic”, it is very useful manual for veterinary and in cooperation with Mr. Chung, Director of Bavi Veterinary station, he published the manual on “Treatment of common diseases in Vietnam”
