Clinical Veterinary Medicine basic & advanced training courses for local technicians in STED from 15th to 19th September, 2008 & 29th September to 3rd October, 2008

Basing on actual situation as well as urgent requirements regarding to diseases and treatment methods in Dairy Farms in target areas of the project, the project invited one short term clinical veterinary medicine expert, Dr. Minami Shigeru, from Hokkaido, Japan to visit & work in Vietnam around 2 months and a half. On this occasion, the project held two training courses of Clinical Veterinary Medicine: the basic one for greenhorn veterinarians from 15th to 19th September, 2008 and the advanced one for experienced veterinarians from 29th September to 3rd October, 2008.

During training period, greenhorn participants were practiced mainly to enhance their skills on diagnosis of some emergency diseases in dairy cattle like milk fever, Mastitis, Downer, Tick-borne disease, Abomasums displacement, Uterine torsion, etc; injection method; technique for treatment; anesthesia; Blood transfusion; Surgical operation: Rumen, abomasums displacement. While, experienced ones could get more understanding about Caesarean Section (CS) method, Intestinal suture, Umbilical operation for calf, Volvulus abomasums displacement, Blood inspection in lab, Some bovine diseases like Purulent pneumonia, colonic tympani, endocarditic, traumatic pericarditis, Leukotis, salmonellosis, intestine displacement, caudal vena caval thrombosis, bacillary pyelonephritis , intestinal thrombosis, amasal thrombo.etc

To serve for these 2 training courses, the project bought cows for practice. Participants shown their interesting and optimistic studying attitude clearly. In summary, these two training courses of the project attracted participants and supplied basic veterinary skills for them. At the end of the training courses, 100 % of participants could receive the certificate approved by Director of National Institute of Animal Husbandry, Chief advisor of the project and Director of Station for Training & Extension on Dairy Techniques.
