The first Joint Coordinating Committee Meeting took place

The Ministry of Health and the project held the first Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) Meeting on 28th April, 2016. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mwaba, Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Health. Other members from the Ministry, the target Provincial Medical Offices (PMOs), District Medical offices (DMOs), other partner organizations and JICA attended the meeting.

There were two agenda for the meeting. Firstly, the Project Design Matrix (PDM) revised according to the findings from baseline surveys in the target districts and other health information was agreed among the JCC members. PDM is a crucial tool for the project as a logical frame which the project follows for planning, conducting activities, monitoring and evaluation. Secondly, District Specific Activity Plans (DSAPs), which were developed in each district according to the result of baseline surveys, were introduced to the members.

Lusaka and Southern PMOs made presentations on the baseline surveys and DSAPs. The Ministry of Health presented the revised PDM, project concept and the schedule.

Responding to the presentations, there were valuable inputs from the members. One of the members suggested that the resources which had already existed should be utilized for DSAP activities. For example, the project may consider to utilize the resources from other partner organizations working in the target districts. Dr. Mwaba also requested the project to corporate with those partner organizations in order to maximize the achievement.

The project will apply those inputs to carry the project forward.
