Project Activity: KAIZEN started in ZDA!!

In May 2010, Mr. Adachi was sent to ZDA as an expert on KAIZEN. KAIZEN was introduced to ZDA for capacity enhancement of the institution. After the establishment of ZDA, there has been much expectation to become a one stop shop to deliver efficient public services.

KAIZEN is the the methodology of enhancing productivity which was developed in Japan. KAIZEN has become common in Japanese Industries, contributing to continuous enhancement of productivity in Japan. KAIZEN has been spread over many parts of the world including Africa.

KAIZEN has a certain methodology, but the basic idea is that implementators start with identifying specific challenges they are facing and plan for the improvement of those challenges. Hence, KAIZEN can be applied to all kinds of organizations or even individuals.

It can be recognized for ZDA management to take an initiative in starting KAIZEN by themselves for the enhancement of their public service delivery. In fact, Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry has also started KAIZEN in order to improve their work environment and work efficiency.

The word “KAIZEN” is well known already in Zambia especially among manufacturing sector, but it is the first time for government organizations to start KAIZEN. We look forward to see the impact of KAIZEN on these government organizations.
