Current movement on the mobile ART in Mumbwa district

Photo

Nangoma Mission Hospital (NMH) in Mumbwa District has started the mobile ART services in the east side of the district. 3 rural health centres, namely Sichobo, Mukulaikwa and Keezwa were selected for its sites. NMH had made the plan early October 2008 and since then, a several discussions were taken place among NMH, Mumbwa DHMT, and JICA experts in order to expand and maintain the quality ART services in the district. NMH agreed to follow the Mobile ART method which was established in Mumbwa DHMT.

One of our Project outputs descrived in the Project Design Matrix (PDM) targets 10 facilities in the Mumbwa district where the ART services are provided by the end of March 2009. We have just achieved the target two months earlier than the schedule as NMH started the Mobile ART services.

The 10 facilities are; 1. Mumbwa Hospital, 2. Nangoma Mission Hospital, 3. Lungobe RuHC, 4. Nampundwe RuHC, 5. Mwembezhi RuHC, 6. Kaindu/Mpusu RuHC, 7. Nalubanda RuHC, 8. Sichobo RuHC, 9. Keezwa RuHC, 10. Mukulaikwa RuHC.

When this project started in 2006, there was only one ART centre, i.e. Mumbwa Hospital which provided ART services in the district. Then the Project started the first Mobile ART facility at Lungobe RuHC in February 2007. As a result of the last 2 years' effort, Mumbwa has become the district where ART services has extensively been expanded in terms of service coverage for the community people in rural setting. This has become a reality because of the coorporation between DHMT and Mission Hospital.
