ZIM-SHEP Project News vol.5 (March 2020, #1) "Endline Survey"

ZIM-SHEP Conducted Endline Survey for Target Irrigation Scheme of First Batch!!

The ZIM-SHEP team conducted Endline Survey for 1st batch for Midlands Province and Mashonaland Central Province from 27th to 31st February 2020 and 3rd to 7th of March 2020 respectively. The endline survey was conducted to get beneficiary farmers know the changes after SHEP and get knowledge of the current status of them including socio-economic, horticulture production, and marketing status.

Interviewed farmers appreciated the series of SHEP training and expressed their gratitude towards the capacity building project. A farmer at one of the targeted irrigation scheme said: "Before knowing SHEP approach, I used to grow vegetables for house consumption, but after implementing the concepts, I now grow vegetables as business. I am staying with my husband and grandchildren. Now, I can send my grandchildren to school and still realize some excess money to use".

The endline survey marks the last training for the 1st batch of targeted provinces. The team will continually monitor activities in the target irrigation schemes and move on to 2nd batch target provinces of Manicaland and Mashonaland East.
