ZIM-SHEP Project News vol.11 (May 2021) "SHEP Training of Trainers" (2021-05-19 to 21)

ZIM-SHEP Team conducted SHEP ToT (Training of Trainers) in Mashonaland East province from 19th to 21st May 2021. A total of 15 participants drawn from the provincial office and 3 targeted districts. The training was conducted in a participatory manner with extension staff actively participating in both lectures and exercises.

At the end of training, an interviewed extension officer said that the training was an eye opener and the series of activities will assist them in providing effective and efficient extension services. For example, encouraging farmers to work together and strengthen the bargaining power among scheme members. Furthermore, a district officer said the knowledge gained helps them to be the nuclear of the SHEP approach. Moreover, the skills acquired will benefit the local community first before being up-scaled to other small scale horticulture farmers within the districts and province. The key success factor will be teamwork among implementers each playing their role.

The next activity in Mashonaland East province will be Baseline survey scheduled for June 2021.
