JICA Welcomes 4 New Japanese Volunteers to Saint Lucia

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is pleased to welcome four new Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) to Saint Lucia. The JOCV have been an integral part of Japan's relationship with Saint Lucia for over 27 years, and contribute to technical and social development areas, as part of Japan's Official Development Assistance on the island. The JOCV serve, share and transfer their knowledge and Japan's best practices to Saint Lucians in both the public and private sectors. They are also keen to learn Saint Lucian culture and are always excited to return to share with Japan.

On Tuesday 30th August 2022, JICA Saint Lucia office was very excited to welcome to the island Ms. Sakiko Yamaguchi, a Water Quality Analyst assigned to the Water Resources Management Agency, Mr. Akira Tsunakawa, a specialist in Massage Therapy for visually impaired persons assigned to the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association, Ms. Yuki Iwasaki, a Math Education Specialist assigned to Education District 8 Office and Mr. Shuichi Komiyama, a Fisheries Development Specialist assigned to the Department of Fisheries, Fisheries Extension Division. The volunteers are expected to complete a two-year tour-of-duty in Saint Lucia.

JICA is pleased to be able to continue the volunteer programme in Saint Lucia and wishes both volunteers and host organizations the very best during their assignments.
