2025.06.19
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in collaboration with Co-Develop, the Gates Foundation, the Centre for Digital Public Infrastructure (CDPI), and Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and in partnership with the COP30 Presidency, is pleased to announce the launch of the DPI for People and Planet (DPI4PP) Innovation Challenge 2025.
This global initiative invites innovators from around the world to propose scalable and impactful solutions that leverage Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to address pressing environmental and societal challenges. The challenge is particularly focused on solutions that benefit developing countries and climate-vulnerable communities, in the lead-up to COP30.
About the Challenge
The DPI4PP Innovation Challenge 2025 is the world’s first innovation challenge centered on the intersection of people, planet, and DPI. It is not a one-off competition, but part of a broader journey to launch high-impact, deployable solutions. Participants will benefit from mentorship, funding, and global exposure, including the opportunity to present their solutions at COP30 in Brazil.
Innovators are encouraged to submit new ideas or enhance existing solutions using DPI elements such as digital identity, interoperable payments, and data exchange platforms. Eligible applicants include research institutions, startups, social enterprises, established companies, and non-profit organizations.
