The “Nihonjin Kaikan,” meaning “Japanese Hall” was the center of Japanese Association activities. These halls would host various events, including seasonal occasions such as year-end parties, New Year’s Eve parties, and Obon dances. Coming-of-age ceremonies, weddings, and even funerals would also be held in these places. They were even used for entertainment events such as live performances and film screenings, as well as get-togethers for housewives and seniors. They provided an important opportunity for Nikkei to interact with one another.
