Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Honduras in Response to the Tropical Storm “Sara”

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to the Tropical Storm “Sara” disaster, upon the request from the Government of the Republic of Honduras.
1. Disaster situation
From the night of November 14 to early morning of November 15, Tropical Storm SARA made landfall in the northeastern part of the Republic of Honduras. This storm have caused severe damage within the country.
According to the Government of Republic of Honduras, the damage situation as of November 19 was as follows:
- Deaths 2
- Affected 110,889
- Evacuees 8,416
- Collapsed houses/Damaged houses 2,743
2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA warehouse in Miami)
- Tents
- Blankets
- Plastic Sheet
- Portable Plastic Jerry Can
- Water purifiers
B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Miami to San Pedro Sula on the next available flight.
