Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Madagascar in Response to the Damage caused by Cyclone Gezani

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to the Cyclone Gezani disaster, upon the request from the Government of Republic of Madagascar.
1. Disaster situation
Cyclone Gezani, which occurred around 7 pm(local time)on 10 February, has caused serious human and property damage. According to BNGRC, the damage situation as of 10 to 19 February was as follows:

Affected 426,906
Missing 13
Evacuees 15,948
Collapsed houses 25,049
2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA warehouse in Dubai)
Tents
Blankets
Plastic sheets
Portable jerry cans
Water purifiers
B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Dubai to Antananarivo the next available flight.
