JICA President Tanaka Met with Deputy Prime Minister Kuchkarov of Uzbekistan

On July 27, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko met with Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov of the Republic of Uzbekistan at JICA Headquarters.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Tanaka stated JICA's intention to continue deepening the cooperative relationship between Uzbekistan and Japan, following the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan in 2019 and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2022.

In response, Deputy Prime Minister Kuchkarov expressed his appreciation for JICA's contributions towards the partnership between the two countries, and said that while the Uzbek economy grows steadily, JICA’s ongoing cooperation remains important, especially in the areas of SME promotion and rural development.

The pair also recognized the importance of generating decent employment opportunities for Uzbek nationals in Japan, and signed a Record of Discussions (R/D) on a new technical cooperation project, the "Project for Development of Industrial Human Resources in Uzbekistan by Utilizing Employment Opportunities in Japan."

It is expected that future cooperation will enhance personal interactions between the two countries and further deepen their relationship.
