JICA President Tanaka Met with Libyan Mr. Allafi, Vice President of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya

On January 26, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko met with H.E. Mr. Allafi, Vice President of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya at JICA Headquarters.
President Tanaka began the meeting by welcoming Vice President of the Presidential Council Allafi to JICA, and thanked him for the Libyan government’s condolence message following the Noto Peninsula Earthquake.
In response, Vice President of the Presidential Council Alllafi once again offered words of sympathy for those impacted by the disaster, and then expressed gratitude for the emergency relief supplies provided by JICA for eastern Libya last September after it was affected by flood damage. Vice President of the Presidential Council Allafi also explained the effort that he is leading for national reconciliation in his country, expressing his hopes for JICA’s support in developing human resources towards the achievement of peace and stability in Libya.
The two officials also shared their thoughts on the possibilities of future cooperation, including with the Libyan Embassy in Japan and the Japanese Embassy, which resumed its operation in Libya.
