JICA President Tanaka met with United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Executive Secretary Alisjahbana

On February 5, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko held a meeting with United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Executive Secretary Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, at JICA Headquarters.

At the opening of the meeting, Executive Secretary Alisjahbana stated that this year is a memorable one owing to the 80th session of the Commission that is to be held in April, and expressed her hopes for further strengthening ESCAP’s relationship with JICA.

In response, President Tanaka outlined JICA’s involvement in a broad range of activities in the Asia-Pacific region including South-South and triangular cooperation, and welcomed the deepening cooperative partnership with ESCAP.

The two sides also exchanged views on potential cooperation in areas such as business promotion as well as trade and investment, in addition to outlining the importance of regional cooperation related to climate change and disaster risk reduction.
