JICA President Tanaka Met with Prime Minister of Jordan Al-Khasawneh

On February 19, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko met with Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Bisher Al-Khasawneh, in Tokyo.

At the opening of the meeting, Prime Minister Al-Khasawneh expressed his gratitude for JICA’s cooperation in Jordan, and the pair exchanged views on the country’s economic and financial reforms, as well as the recent situation in the Middle East.

President Tanaka then stated that JICA would consider providing budget support to Jordan, which celebrates the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Japan this year, and that the agency would also extend its assistance in various other areas, including tourism, water supply, and training.

The two parties also exchanged views on topics such as the recent situation in Gaza and the West Bank, the roadmap toward a ceasefire, and JICA’s support.
