JICA Executive Senior Vice President Miyazaki Met with UN Under-Secretary-General and Associate Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme Xu

On June 25, JICA Executive Senior Vice President Miyazaki Katsura met with United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Associate Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Haoliang Xu at JICA Headquarters.
Executive Senior Vice President Miyazaki, while noting that the Development Cooperation Charter amended in 2023 positions “human security” as a guiding principle underlying development cooperation, expressed her wish to deepen the collaboration between the two organizations in responding to the current compound crises and for international meetings such as the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) scheduled to be held next year. In response, Under-Secretary-General and Associate Administrator Xu expressed the importance of collaboration with the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus (HDP Nexus), Women, Peace and Security (WPS), and the private sector. Furthermore, both exchanged opinions on future collaboration.
