On August 3, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a loan agreement with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta to provide a Japanese ODA loan of up to 50 billion yen for COVID-19 Active Response and Expenditure Support Program Loan.

The objective of the program is to maintain economic activities, protect the poor and most vulnerable, and strengthen health and medical service capacity, in response to COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. This will be done through providing budget support co-financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This program will contribute to the achievement of SDGs Goals, including 1, 3 and 8.
