On July 4 , the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed loan agreements with the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam—represented by the latter’s Ministry of Finance in Hanoi—to provide Japanese ODA loans of up to a total of 60,983 million yen for the following three projects.
Signing Ceremony
(1) Public Transport Infrastructure Improvement Project in Binh Duong Province (loan amount: 6,244 million yen)
(2) Project for Upgrading Infrastructure for Agricultural Development in Lam Dong Province (Phase1) (loan amount: 4,739 million yen)
(3) General Budget Support Program for Socio-economic Recovery and Development of Viet Nam Post-Covid-19 Pandemic (loan amount: 50,000 million yen)
Details for the projects are provided below.
The objective of the project is to respond to the increasing traffic demand within the province and improve connectivity with neighboring Ho Chi Minh City by developing flyovers, public transport priority systems (PTPS), and closed medians on the main road (My Phuoc-Tambang Road) connecting Binh Duong New City and Suoi Tien Terminal Station, thereby contributing to the economic development of the Ho Chi Minh metropolitan area.
This project will also contribute to the achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goals 3 (Good health and well-being) and 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure).

The objective of the project is to enhance the agricultural sector in Lam Dong Province through the improvement of infrastructure including roads and irrigation systems, as well as of the Flower Collection Center, with the overall goal of improving the income of farmers and industrializing the agricultural sector.
This project will also contribute to the achievement of SDGs Goals 1 (No poverty), 10 (Reduced inequalities), and 13 (Climate action).

The objective of this project is to support the implementation of Vietnam’s “socio-economic recovery package to alleviate the burden of the COVID-19 pandemic on livelihoods and businesses in Vietnam, and to encourage economic recovery and stable growth through fiscal support. In doing so, the project will contribute to the achievement of SDGs Goals 3 and 8 (Decent work and economic growth).
