On December 24, 2024, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a loan agreement with the Banco del País, S.A. (Banpais) in the Republic of Honduras, for Private Sector Investment Finance Project, and held the signing ceremony on February 12, 2025.
The loan is co-financed with International Finance Corporation (IFC).

・Project Purpose
The project aims to improve access to finance for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), including women-owned businesses, in the Republic of Honduras by providing loans to Banpais, thereby contributing to developing SMEs, creating job opportunities, and reducing gender inequality in the country.

・Project Component
The Project provides loans to be sub-loaned through Banpais to SMEs. At least 30 per cent of JICA loan is utilized for loans to Women-Owned SMEs
