On February 21, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with The World Food Programme (WFP) in Tokyo, to provide grant aid for the Project for Strengthening the Wheat Value Chain.

- Project Objective
To enhance agricultural productivity through the improvement of the wheat value chain by distributing wheat seeds, including climate-adaptable varieties developed through the JICA technical cooperation project, and fertilizers, as well as providing equipment and capacity development on the management of wheat production from cultivation to storage to agricultural extension workers and farmers in the wheat cultivation areas of the Northern, River Nile, and Kassala states, thereby contributing to food security, industrial diversification and agricultural development in Sudan.

1. Demonstration of climate-adaptable wheat varieties, including the new varieties developed through the JICA technical cooperation project
2. Provision of support for the management of wheat harvesting and post-harvest processing
