Signing of Loan Agreement for the Project for Financial Inclusion of Micro and Small Enterprises in Northern Regions in Peru (Private Sector Investment Finance) : Improving access to finance for small and micro businesses in the northern regions
On May 6, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) held a signing ceremony of a loan agreement with MIBANCO, the Peruvian bank specializing in microfinance, in the capital city Lima of the Republic of Peru, for a Private Secor Investment Finance project.
The loan is co-financed with IDB Invest under the CORE (Cooperation for Economic Recovery and Social Inclusion), a partnership framework between IDB Group and JICA.

- Project Purpose
The objective of the Project is to improve access to finance for micro and small enterprises in Peru especially in the northern regions through financing Mibanco. This will contribute to reducing regional disparities in the country.
- Project Component
70 % of JICA’s total loan amount will be sub-lent by Mibanco to micro and small businesses in Peru’s eight northern regions - Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, Cajamarca, Amazonas, Loreto, San Martin and La Libertad, and 30% to micro and small businesses run by women across the country.
