On June 20, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea in the capital city Port Moresby, to provide grant aid for the Project for the Improvement of Facilities and Training Equipment of National Fisheries College.

The objective of the Project is to secure the safety level and efficiency of training by/through construction of waterfront facilities and procurement of equipment, including a training vessel for National Fisheries College, thereby contributing to promotion of fisheries sector of PNG.

(a) construction of a new jetty for training and other vessels
(b) construction of a seawall
(c) construction of new facilities to conduct trainings for manufacturing fishing gear and security of maritime safety
(d) construction of a training vessel
(e) procurement of equipment for training purposes, including trucks with cranes, forklifts and training boats
(f) consulting services
