Signing of Grant Agreement with Maldives: Contributing to environmental conservation, climate change measures, and disaster prevention through improvement of seawall and provision of equipment for stormwater drainage in the Malé Island

On September 9, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Republic of Maldives in the capital island of Malé, to provide grant aid for the Project for Disaster Resilience Enhancement in the Malé Island. The signatures were exchanged between Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Hassan Miras of the Republic of Maldives and Resident Representative Taki Motoo of JICA Maldives Office.

Additionally, for the detailed design of the project, JICA already signed an agreement to provide grant aid of up to 20 million yen in October, 2024.
