First Disbursement of Loan Agreement for Infinity Power’s Ras Ghareb 200 MW Wind Farm in Egypt (Private Sector Investment Finance) : Contributing to increased electricity supply and mitigation of climate change impacts

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a loan agreement with Masdar IPH Wind S.A.E for Infinity Power’s greenfield wind farm in Ras Ghareb in the Arab Republic of Egypt on December 7, 2024. The first disbursement of the loan is expected to take place in September 2025.
This loan is co-financed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), PROPARCO, and the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

- Project Purpose
The project aims to promote sustainable economic growth and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through increasing the renewable electricity supply in the Arab Republic of Egypt by constructing and operating a 200MW wind power plant.
- Project Component
This project involves the construction and operation of a 200MW wind farm, transmission lines and substation facilities. The Borrower has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the full purchase of actual electricity generation with the guarantee of the Ministry of Finance of Egypt.
