During the event, President Tanaka emphasized the importance of adopting support approaches tailored to the specific circumstances of each country, especially under the current compounded crises. He highlighted JICA’s strength in operating multiple support schemes, with a particular focus on human capacity development to address diverse development challenges, including climate change. In doing so, JICA respects ownership of the partner countries.

He also underscored the need to demonstrate the tangible impact of development cooperation as a way of fostering understanding and trust between the peoples of both nations. Furthermore, he discussed that JICA is increasingly partnering with the private sector to catalyze its involvement, presenting a clear vision of the direction JICA aims to pursue in its development cooperation efforts.
