Signing of Grant Agreement with Nepal:Contributing to Rehabilitation of Sindhuli Road Affected by Floods
2025.11.06
On October 30, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of Nepal in the capital city Kathmandu, to provide grant aid for the Programme for Emergency Rehabilitation of Sindhuli Road Affected by Floods. The signatures were exchanged between Foreign Aid Coordination Division Joint Secretary Dhani Ram Sharma of Ministry of Finance and Chief Representative Matsuzaki Mizuki of JICA Nepal.
The Sindhuli Road, a 160 km national highway connecting Kathmandu to the Eastern Terai region bordering India, was developed through Japanese Grant Aid and serves as a vital transportation and logistics artery for communities in the region. In response to severe damage―including road washouts and landslides― caused by heavy rainfall in September 2024, this project will carry out urgent restoration work, focusing the most critically affected segment.
