On November 19, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Tokyo, to provide grant aid for the Project for the Improvement of Women's Livelihoods through the Promotion of Economic Activity in the Border Areas in Afghanistan. The signatures were exchanged between Director Hideko Hadzialic of UNDP Representation Office in Tokyo and Chief Representative Tosaka Sota of JICA Afghanistan.

The Project for the Improvement of Women's Livelihoods through the Promotion of Economic Activity in the Border Areas

Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (Balkh Province, Takhar Province, Badakhshan Province, Paktika Province)  

- Project Objective
The objective of the Project is to promote women’s economic activities through developing hubs of economic activities, improving access to finance for women-led Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, and conducting community awareness activities in the provinces bordering neighboring countries, thereby contributing to improving women’s livelihoods in Afghanistan.
