Signing of Japanese ODA Loan Agreement with Morocco: Contributing to Efficient Water Resource Use and Stable Growth of Agricultural Production through Irrigation Development

On November 20, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a loan agreement with the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco in the capital city Rabat, to provide Japanese ODA loan for the Project for Agricultural Water Development in the Southeast Area of Gharb Plain The signatures were exchanged between Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of the Budget of the Kingdom of Morocco and Director General Kei Toyama of Middle East and Europe Department, JICA.

The objective of the Project is to enhance the efficient use of water resources and to increase and stabilize agricultural production by the construction of hydro-agricultural main canals and auxiliary facilities in the Gharb plain, thereby helping to promote agricultural development in the country that is adaptable to climate change.
