On December 17, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of Belize in Belize City, to provide grant aid for the Project for the Reconstruction of the Swing Bridge in Belize City. The signatures were exchanged between Prime Minister John Briceño of the Government of Belize and Chief Representative Nai Hiromi of JICA El Salvador Office.

The objective of the Project is to improve traffic flow in Belize City by/through reconstructing the existing bridge located at the mouth of the Haulover River, thereby contributing to the development of resilient living infrastructure in Belize City and its surrounding areas.

(b) Procurement and installation of materials and equipment for reconstruction of the Swing Bridge

2,171 million Japanese Yen
