On December 12, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in the capital city Bishkek, to provide grant aid for the Project for the Reconstruction of the Naryn River Bridge on the Bishkek-Osh Road for Enhanced Connectivity with the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. The signatures were exchanged between Minister Almaz Baketaev of Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic and Chief Representative Nishigata Kotaro of JICA Kyrgyz Republic.

This project is positioned as part of "Enhancing Connectivity through Support for the Further Development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route" of the "CA+JAD Tokyo Initiative," which was declared at the Summit of the "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue (CA+JAD) in December 2025. This project contributes to the stabilization and sustainable development of the Central Asian region, an important partner for Japan in maintaining and strengthening a free and open international order based on the rule of law.

The objective of the Project is to improving the connectivity between the Kyrgyz Republic and neighboring countries by reconstruction of the Naryn River bridge on the Bishkek-Osh road, thereby contributing to secure smooth and safe traffic and transportation.

(a) Construction of the bridge and approach road
(b) Consulting services

- Maximum Grant Amount
3,190 million Japanese Yen

- Implementation Period (planned)
57 Months, including detailed design work and the bidding period.
1) Construction of the bridge is expected to be completed in 44 months.
2) The maintenance contract for the bridge is for 12 months after delivery of the bridge
