On December 28, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the capital city Cairo, to provide grant aid for the Project for the Construction of Diving Support Vessel. The signatures were exchanged between Director Ahmed Gad Abdo Elbarbary, Shipyard Department of Suez Canal Authority of Arab Republic of Egypt and Senior Representative Atsushi Yamamoto of JICA Egypt.

The Project contributes to the sustainable and stable operation of the Suez Canal through the construction of diving support vessels with decompression chambers and other facilities. Also, by enhancing the security of the Suez Canal, a key hub for international logistics, it is expected to contribute to reducing transportation costs for Japanese companies and stabilizing their supply chains.
