Signing of Record of Discussions on Technical Cooperation Project in Malaysia: Contributing to enhancing biomass utilization for sustainable oil palm plantation management and promoting a circular economy

On January 27, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Record of Discussions with the National Institute of Biotechnology Malaysia in Selangor, for “The Project of Enhancing Biomass Utilization for Sustainable Management of Oil Palm Plantation and Promoting Circular Economy by Utilizing Applied Biotechnology Methods”, a technical cooperation project. The signatures were exchanged between Chief Executive Officer, Professor Datuk Wira Dr. Raha Abdul Rahim of National Institute of Biotechnology Malaysia and Chief Representative Minako Sugawara of JICA Malaysia office.

The Project of Enhancing Biomass Utilization for Sustainable Management of Oil Palm Plantation and Promoting Circular Economy by Utilizing Applied Biotechnology Methods

Biotechnology methods utilizing oil palm biomass are developed and promoted as a circular bioeconomy. This project in Malaysia aims to disseminate the research outcomes of the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) initiative titled “The Project for Sustainable Replantation of Oil Palm by Adding Value to Oil Palm Trunk through Scientific and Technological Innovation.”
