Signing of Loan Agreement for the Project for Sanitation Improvement in the Coastal Area of São Paulo State in Brazil (Private Sector Investment Finance): Contributing to improvement of water and sanitation in São Paulo
On October 30, 2025, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement for Private Sector Investment Finance Project with Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo (SABESP) in the Federative Republic of Brazil.
Brazil has the largest Japanese community in the world. The project will contribute to improving the essential water supply in the state of São Paulo, where approximately one million people of Japanese descent reside, thereby strengthening diplomatic relation and bilateral friendship.

The Project aims to contribute to the improvement of sanitary conditions in Baixada Santista of the state of São Paulo in Brazil by enhancing the delivery of wastewater treatment services by upgrading sewage infrastructure.
