Investment through JICA-Funded Trust Fund ‘TADAC’ (Private Sector Investment Finance): Signing of Loan Agreement for Buenos Aires Institute of Technology Campus Renovation Project in Argentine Republic
On August 7, through the Trust Fund Achieving Development of Latin America and the Caribbean (TADAC*) invested by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Inter-American Development Bank Investment Company (IDB Invest) signed a loan agreement with Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA), which is renowned for producing some of the country's top engineering and science graduates in Argentine Republic.

While the majority of higher education in Argentina is provided by public universities, the country faces challenges in developing adequate educational infrastructure due to fiscal constraints and other factors. As a result, graduation rates remain low, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. This project will support the financing needs for the renovation of ITBA, thereby contributing to strengthening the country's capacity to develop highly skilled STEM professionals.
(*Note) JICA commits USD 1.0 billion in the Trust Fund Achieving Development of Latin America and the Caribbean (TADAC). The Fund is established within the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the largest development finance institution in Latin America and the Caribbean region, and managed by IDB Invest, the private sector investment arm of the IDB Group. TADAC will co-finance alongside IDB Invest to support private sector initiatives that contribute to the achievement of the SDGs. JICA’s investment aims to reduce the SDGs financing gap in the region and contribute to its sustainable socioeconomic development.
