Signing of Record of Discussions on Technical Cooperation Project with Guatemala: Strengthening the Implementation of School Feeding Program and Promoting Food and Nutrition Education to Improve Children's Nutritional Status
On September 7, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed the Record of Discussions with the Government of the Republic of Guatemala on the framework to implement the technical cooperation project titled “The Project for the Strengthening the Implementation of the School Feeding Program” in the country’s capital, Guatemala City. The signatures were exchanged between Minister Anabella María Giracca Méndez of Ministry of Education of the Republic of Guatemala and Chief Representative Kubokura Ken of JICA Guatemala Office.

The project will strengthen school feeding implementation in Guatemala through improved operational guidelines, monitoring systems, capacity development, and nutrition education, while laying the foundation for nationwide expansion. By addressing the country's nutrition challenges among children, the project will enhance school feeding management and nutrition education. It will also showcase Japan's expertise in school meals and food education “Shokuiku” and advance further activities of the sector across Latin America.
