Signing of Grant Agreement with Paraguay：Contributing to the resolution of challenges in the agriculture and livestock sectors, disaster risk reduction, and other fields through providing facilities and equipment for small satellite development to enhance the country’s satellite development technologies and satellite data analysis capabilities
On September 4, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Republic of Paraguay in the capital city Asunción, to provide grant aid for the Project for the Development of Facilities Related to Satellite Technologies. The signatures were exchanged between Minister of Foreign Affairs Rubén Ramírez Lezcano of the Republic of Paraguay and Chief Representative Takasago Hajime of JICA Paraguay Office.

The Project for the Development of Facilities Related to Satellite Technologies

- Project Objective
The Project aims to strengthen the satellite development capabilities of Paraguayan Space Agency (AEP) and enhance the capacity of AEP and relevant institutions to utilize satellite data for agricultural development and climate change measures. This will be achieved through the provision of testing equipment for small satellites, satellite-related ground systems and satellite data, as well as the construction of a space technology utilization center equipped with the necessary facilities. Through these activities, the Project will contribute to addressing challenges in the agriculture and livestock sector, disaster management and other areas, thereby promoting the socioeconomic development of Paraguay.
